  I never could figure out cryptic crosswords…

  Me either. I just give them to Karen, who then gets ratty and gives the crossword to her dad, who then goes off in a huff and gives the crossword to Karen’s mum, who looks up the answer in the back of the book or waits for the answer in the next day’s paper. Those things are designed for masochists – it’s a bit like getting up at 4am for a cold shower and then not having one…
