“It looks to me like Atlassian has a winner on their hands with Bamboo, their new continuous build server. Atlassian strikes me as the little company that could.”

That's from Tim Fennell's entry Bamboo: Atlassian 3, Open Source 0.

Although we haven’t officially announced Bamboo yet, there's a public Bamboo space, where you can download version 0.8. Bamboo is a continuous integration build server that offers heaps of insight on build processes and patterns via solid reporting metrics. We’ll share specific, juicy details on the news wires in January when Bamboo 1.0 releases.

In the meantime, Tim does a wonderful job describing his experience getting Bamboo up and running:

“…My first project is configured in about 3 minutes, and is building. My second project, created by cloning the first project, takes mere seconds to rig. Add the dependency between the two and Bamboo even kicks off the builds in order when changes occur.

But it gets better. Bamboo has built in CVS and SVN support - it’ll check out and update your project for you, so you don’t have to write build scripts to do it (that always seemed backwards to me in Cruise). And you don’t have to tell it much about tests - it’ll automatically scan files who’s name/location matches a filter you provide and dig out all sorts of information. And it’ll create a ‘slow running tests’ report to shame those unit tests that really drag the build down!...”

Thanks for blogging about our newest product! Keep us updated as you continue using Bamboo.
