Jon Silvers, Dir. of Marketing

We've recently sponsored two SF Bay Area women's events and just agreed to sponsor a third, so it seemed like as good a time as any to blog about it.

The sponsored events include Girls in Tech, She's Geeky, and the upcoming Women 2.0. All the blame or kudos :) for our involvement really belongs with one of the event organisers, Julia French, with whom we've worked with on-and-off over the last year on various projects. She's been a huge advocate for helping women find more opportunities in tech.

Attracting women to technology — an industry dominated by men — is something everyone implicitly agrees with, but rarely ever does anything about. For us, sponsorship makes great sense on a number of levels. In addition to it being philanthropic, they are opportunities for recruiting, for general awareness building and, for our female staff, they're a fun way to meet new people.

If you've attended one of these events, please drop us a line to let us know how we're doing.
