WatchBlog: fascinating multi-user political blog / 2003 Jun 20

Via CamWorld I found the new WatchBlog.

Besides being a damn attractive site, it's also a fascinating experiment. It's not one weblog - it's three-weblogs-in-one (Republican, Democrat and Third Party) - each with multiple authors and all on the one page.

It's almost like a 'blog-rumble' all on the one site. Imagine if we had one of these in the Java world. One blog for Hani and Rickard to poke holes in Open Source software, one for the JBoss folks to reply and a third for everyone else to comment on both of them. Hilarious.

Comments

If I was a trickster I'd post a really long word to my section of the site and break the layout pushing everyone else off-screen. (a bunch of   entities)

But yeah, the layout is saweet!

James, that is why I play god (lowercase g). All editor accounts have to be approved by me and I boot editors who break the rules. I've got a couple other editors who are allowed to revoke accounts as well, and have super-user permissions in MovableType and can edit all the posts and comments in all three blogs.

The Democrats blog is already doing a good job of out-blogging the other two but that's because I can't find any more Republican-leaning editors. Maybe I've already signed up the 8 people on the planet who are both Republican and know how to use a computer (j/k!).
