So what do we Aussies do about the whole Web 2.0 phenomenon (ironic emphasis all mine) down under? Simple - we organise dinners and eat.
Thanks to Marty (of Tangler fame), this ever growing group of the Sydney Web 2.0 crowd is gathering regularly to eat, drink and be merry. See his write up of who attended yesterday's soiree.
In one amusing anecdote I was told that Atlassian is the "leading Australian web 2.0 company" - now it's a nice title to be bestowed upon one by a tipsy luminary, but... sorry, we're a Web 2.0 company? What were we two years ago?
One of the photos amused me. I'm not sure I remember it being taken, but I couldn't have been trying to explain the Claw to rapt attention from two of Sydney's most prominent VCs. Could I?
Marty - thanks mate. A great night was had by all! Until the next one in October (which I've already dubbed the post-office-2.0-pre-web-2.0 web 2.0 dinner).
At this rate you can soon invite Mike Arrington to organize a TechCrunch Sydney party :-) (he alreday had a London one...)
Damn missed the dinner, looks like it was fun.
Techcrunch will be coming down under in December, apparently :)
